Child/baby naming
Baby/child Naming
This special occasion is an opportunity to declare before family and friends your promise to be as good a parent as you can. Also, it’s an opportunity for family and friends to confirm their special relationship with your child.
Your child can be any age.
A naming ceremony is a unique occasion for families and friends to be involved in showing their love and support for your child, as well as an opportunity to bring together people who will be important in your child’s life. It is a true celebration of the people special in your life as well.
A Naming Ceremony usually runs for about 10-20 minutes depending on what is included.
My service includes:
Being a Mother and a Grandmother myself, I know the joy and love that a child brings. It is always a joyful occasion to be able to welcome your child into your family and to the wider community of your friends.

A naming ceremony is a unique occasion for families and friends to be involved in showing their love and support for your child, as well as an opportunity to bring together people who will be important in your child’s life. It is a true celebration of the people special in your life as well.
A Naming Ceremony usually runs for about 10-20 minutes depending on what is included.
My service includes:
- a visit with your family in your home. My home or elsewhere, depending on your requirements, to discuss the most appropriate ceremony for your family
- conduct of the ceremony which can be at your nominated venue
- a framed family tree for the past three (or four) generations as my gift to you and your family. This is dependent upon whether your family’s relevant information is readily available
- a certificate for the child and the child’s godparents/guide-parents/sponsors/mentors which will be presented at the conclusion of the ceremony
- inclusion of various personal information including, the meaning of your child’s name during the service
- PA System for the ceremony if required
- a candle or other ceremony if desired.

Renewal of vows
A renewal of vows’ ceremony can reaffirm the love and bond between two people.
A Renewal of Vows is not only an opportunity to celebrate and honour your love for one another, but also can acknowledge the long journey of your relationship together.
Maybe you have travelled a difficult road for some reason and want to reaffirm your vows to each other.
You may have been separated for a while, never divorced and have now found each other again and you would like a ceremony to express your coming together again.
You could be celebrating a milestone anniversary 10, 25, 40 or 50 years together.
Perhaps you were never happy with your previous wedding day and want to do it again with your own special input.
You may now have children that can be part of your special day.
Maybe there was a member of your family or a close friend that could not be there with you when you were married and you really wanted them to be there. This is especially so if you married overseas or inter-State and people special to you were unable to attend.
Perhaps you would like a ceremony in a park, on the beach at sunset, your favourite restaurant, at your home/a friend’s home, with your family and close friends.
It could be held on a special birthday (eg 40th, 50th, 60th birthday).

- a symbol of commitment (ie wine or candle ceremony) can also be included if this is desired
- information including samples of vows, readings/poems, ceremony rituals and exchange of rings
- all communication between myself and the bridal couple
- unlimited meetings (face to face or via telephone) either at a place you nominate, or in my home
- a PA System for the ceremony
- rehearsal
- conduct of the personalised ceremony written just for you, on the day, which can be at your nominated venue
- a certificate indicating the information relating to your Renewal of Vows’ Ceremony
- a copy of the service as a keepsake

First Anniversary service
In some cultures, it is tradition to mark the first year anniversary of a loved one’s passing.
I have in the past commemorated such a service and find it an emotional and comforting way to celebrate the life of a loved one.
There are often tears – of sadness and joy – that a special person has been a part of a family’s life.
It is always a satisfying and wonderful way to acknowledge a loved one – for everyone involved – including me.
Relay for Life
In the past few years I have conducted the Cancer Council’s Relay For Life Sunset Services in two areas in Melbourne’s suburbs.
The Sunset Services are conducted as part of their fundraising activities. Those attending are participants of the Relay for Life and others such as family and friends, who share the Cancer Council’s desire to eradicate this insidious disease and who have involvement with those who are experiencing cancer, those who are survivors or those who have passed away. It is an amazing and emotional experience.
These are wonderful events attracting many hundreds and sometimes, thousands of amazing people; all sharing their emotions and grief together, during Relay for Life and particularly, during the Sunset Service.
